I am fascinated by how products solve valuable problems and create meaningful impact in people’s lives. I believe that everything we build needs to serve a purpose and create a positive change. My name is Priank Ravichandar, and I created this newsletter to explore what it takes to build great products.
What’s Interesting About Products
When you hear “product”, what’s the first thing that comes to mind?
You might think of your phone, your favorite app or maybe even a snack. Despite their different forms, all of these are products! You’re interacting with products all the time.
But we’ve got more options than ever before. Products are competing in crowded markets for our time, money and attention. But what separates successful products from unsuccessful ones? How do innovative companies create products differently? How can products balance customer and business value?
You probably have two (or more) apps on your phone that do the same thing. But it’s likely you use one more often. What’s different about that app? Why do you keep coming back to it?
I interested in finding the answers to these questions and more.
What I’m Interested In
I’ve spent the last 6 years developing customer-centric products and services. I’ve led cross-functional teams to solve product, market, and business problems in the B2B space. I’ve worked on both digital and physical products focused on AI, sustainability, education, data, and much more.
Growing up, one of my favorite shows was How It’s Made. It’s about how various everyday products are made. It inspired me to become an engineer and learn about everything that goes into making these products.
My experiences have shown me just how complex making products can be. To create and launch products, you need to answer many questions, which requires different set of skills, knowledge and expertise. This is why you need collaboration between many different business functions.
However, all product questions are rooted in people and processes
People influence what outcomes the products will create.
Processes influence how create those outcomes will be created.
I plan into use the lens of people and processes to discover how great products are built.
How Often Will I Post
I’m going to post every week on Tuesdays. I’ll try to post more often if I can.
